Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki (also known as "Salonica") is the 2nd largest city in
Greece, and capital of Macedonia.
As the
2001 census,
the city had a population of 363,987, with more than 800,000 living in the urban area around the city.
Since
1992,
the city has hosted the International Thessaloniki Film Festival, which is one of the most
important annual cultural events in southern Europe.
